Read the following story from the NY Times and this one from the AdCouncil .Also watch the two videos. Which type of tactic works better? Why or why not? What could be done differently to make the message more effective?
Wow no one did it yet well whatever. Anyway the first video was the most effective in my eyes. The world needs to see the truth and the first is just that the brutal gory gruesome truth and that is that. No one san it is not gory it is what happenes i mean i car accident is a pleasant way to die for heaven's sake it is gruesome and deadly. The sad truth though is that people are afraid of the truth. and that is all there is to it.
I think that the second video is alot better and not so gruesome. Only because the comedian makes the situation go away in a lighter way and in a way that all friends would and can do. I think that the less gory and less bloody tactic works alot better because it hits a cord of seriousness and laughter! I don't think anything could be done to this video at all because everything he did was effective and funny at the same time.
Obviously the car crash video is more effective then saying something to your friend. The 1st video makes me not wanna text at all. But its the truth and it can seriously happen to retarded text drivers. People need to know what can happen through a bloody car crash commercial. People should use their common sense. Texting while driving is just stupid and people get whats coming to them while doing it.
The first one was more effective in my opinion. Just because it shows you what happens when you text and drive. And all the people lives you have in your hands behind the wheel. And how it can effect other people lives. And even kill more people dats in your car. The second one waas more like a joke, not on a serious type of matter. Like it was just straight up with it.
I think the first video is more effective because it's more impacting and scarring than the second video. The first one shows the real thing, but it does have it's downside. It's a little too traumatic for being just a commericial. I think the director of the first commercial should have made it a little less epic. The second video wasn't very effective because some people don't listen to their friends, so some people would still text even after their friends say something. But it was funny. They should have made the friend of the driver tell a tramautic story instead of telling a funny story.
truthfully, i think that the tactic with willard is better, but i think that the first one with the girls is the most helpful. this is because it is not sugar coating anything, and it is showing what can and WILL happen if you are not paying attention to the road. the secon one is more like a comedy, and it may not happen like that all of the time. you may not have a friend say anything like willard did. however, in the first one it will sccare people into paying attention, and it's the best way. that's what i think. it is very graphic, and i think that they should have had a message at the end, and the commercial will be a winner.
I think that the first video is way more effect but not really because of the crash but more about the after affects. The part when the baby was asking why her mom and dad weren't waking up and the younger baby looked like it was dead with it's eyes open. For me I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I killed people in a way that could've easily been prevented. This is the type of video that really would actaully make me think more about texting or talking on the phone while I'm driving. I'm already way to paranoid when it comes to that and even when other people are texting or talking on the phone while I'm in the car with them.
First of all, that game is hard and I bet driving and texting is even more difficult because there are lane turns and other cars and multiple messages. That’s why they made speaker phone. I thought phones were for talking anyone. Someone can say something faster in an actual conversation than in a text. I think that the scare tactic works better because then they think about what could happen. Maybe if they think about the crash then they think not to text. It works better because teens especially will say something along the lines of “I got this”. People don’t really think about the outcome until it is presented to them in the worst way. Examples: Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, AIDS, etc.
I strongly believe that the first video was the most effective in my eyes. The reason I believe this is because people need to see EXACTLY what can happen, when it comes to someone’s life they need to stop sugar coating stuff. Texting while driving is very dangerous, and can seriously hurt and or kill others around. People should stop being afraid of the truth and just STOP doing it.
I believe that the first video was more effective because it showed something along the lines of being more realistic. Its straight out and it doesn't use some sappy worded plead to get you to stop texting while driving, it shows you flat out that if you choose to txt while driving you could eventually harm those in the car with you and around you. I believe that they should have had the girls in the car at the end talk about the dangers of texting while driving and that if you are in a car while the driver is texting, tell them to pull over or stop texting all together
I think that the Welsh ad was too extreme and graphic. I doubt that something that dramatic could happen. All that screaming was not necessary. The American ad doesn't really show you the consequences of what could happen, it just tells you what not to do. To make it more effective is to tone down all the violence but show the consequences. A consequence would be getting arrested and going to prison. The simulation game was not accurate because nobody switches lanes that fast while texting. It just doesn't make any sense at all. When I start driving, I won't be texting because that's just dumb and if you have people in the car, they can just do it for you.
I think the first clip is better because it shows you the cause and affects that happin when you text and drive at the same time. You also feel bad unlike the second one is a little more commical and you cant take it that serious well i cant any way the first clip is more tragic and shows all the things and people that you hurt just from texting.
The first tactic works better in my opinion because its more graphic and it grasps my attention better than the ad council did. It was very dramatic. The game on the New York Times page was hard and it definitely made the point that you cannot text and drive at the same time. I think this message could be made more effective by being less gruesome that way it could possibly be a commercial for teenagers to see. The other commercial didn't really may me think about texting while driving as much as the NYC times did. When I was reading the article, it said that A T & T is trying to make an automatic message that says "I am driving now, call you when I get off the road." The add council views it from a funny point of view which almost makes it seem like its okay. Overall the NYC times tactic was more effective is getting the message out.
I think the one displays a better message beause the second one is funnie so no one would really pay attention to it but the first one shows that if you are truly careless then you will surely be involved in a simular situation that could possible end your life because you wanted to be reckless and go against the law and text while driving i bet the people who survived the crash who were doing what they weren't suppose to so now i think that they learned there lesson and i bet they won't think of doing it any more if they do then there crazy because next time they might not survive and that's there life. I don't think that they should change anything about the video because it displays agreat message to young teens who get in a car with all there friends and not pay attention to the road they there likely to be involved in an accident like in the video so i would reccomend this to alot of teens. i think that people who think that this is funnie they should watch a more gruesome video and then see how it feels if it was them.
I believe that the first dramatic one is the most effective. Reason being because the best way to teach someone something is to basically "scare it" into them. Like for example when you tell a child not to go in your room because the clown lives up there. I bet no more white girls...err I mean no more teenagers would text while driving after seeing this ad.
I think that the first video would be more effective on teenagers. Mainly because of all the blood and most teens these days text while they are driving, they would pay more attention. The second video didn't catch my eye, and highlt doubt it caught anyone else's. I got distracted easily! I mean i understand there was comedy but i want to see what would happen to me in a crash ... i need something to get my attention. I think both videos give out a message but just in different ways ....
iThink the first video was the best it showed the aftermath of a texting while driving from the drivers point of view and other victims that were involved in the crash. They also had a corny lil game that you could play which had parallel to the real texting while driving. But next time they should cut down with the screaming white jawns. Overall it was a good video.
I think that the first commercials tactic is way better than the second commercial. The first commercial really gets your attention while the second commercial just makes you laugh. They both are good commercials because they both are sending a good message. But I don’t they would be that effective to young teens, maybe to young adults. I don’t think there effective because people or young teens are still going to text while driving because the think that there are not going to be the person in the car accident. Many young teens who text while driving really thinks that they are invincible ,when it comes to getting in a car accident, while some may not. I think that the first commercial could not be done any better because it really makes you feel the kid’s pain. But the second commercial could be better if they didn’t make getting into a car accident a joke because the teens who watch it, will take it as a joke.
the first video is more affective. it's those kinds of things that scare people because it's so horrible and bloody. the second was funny but i think maybe people wont take it seriously and would just laugh at it. i think "occasional" commercials would be good for public tv. but more bloody videos should be seen in schools and maybe when people are getting their permit. and it should be shown again when getting their license and insurance.
I think the first one from great Briton is the one I think is more effective in the way that Jaws was effective in making me on swim. I like the commercial with Fred Willard the best. That commercial was funny and it got the right message across. The British commercial was too brutal and over the top in a wacky sort of way. The subject of texting while driving is a new issue because it is just now becoming a problem.
I believe that the first video is better and most effective. I feel this way because it shows people the gruesome truth of what can happen when you text while driving. The second one is less brutal and maybe effective to some, but the first one can get people in the mind set of "man, i don't want that to happen to me" and then be more careful drivers. yeah, people may forget in some time but at least there was some time that they remembered this and drove safely. and for some it may leave a lifetime image in their heads so that they never text while driving.
i think the message is powerful but teenagers have this mund set where they still will do it because they think it wont matter to them i think they will have to be in a wrecking car to see it. they would have to go through it. i now that i cant multi task so i would never try and play myself but i see people who text try and play music and still be having conversations wit me i couldnt do it. the other video was funny but i dont think it woiuld work just because of the same situation teenagers think they are this invincinle people.
I think the tactic that works best is when a friend speaks out to their friends on reckless driving, but i think the videos in the 1st article is also a good way to show how it is with driving and using the phone because it shows how real it is and what can happen if you talk on the phone and drive. The friend to friend talk is probably better because kids do listen to their friends than they do there parents because some kids think that there parents are just saying things because there parents. They would believe there friends because they are more likley to pay attention and understand it better.
