ReplyDelete1. What types of psychology were being used?
The different types of psychology if I remember correctly are developmental and and instructional along with actual science psychology. They were testing infants and studying them along with adults for a comparison level of study. Those are the types I observed while reading the article.
2. Which of the experiments do you feel was most valid?
Umm valid is a good question I liked all of them and they are proved good points. For instance a note in the article says adults are always underestimating kids and I observe this on a daily basis. Not the point though the point is that all the experiments had good points. In all of them the children learned by experimenting where the adults did it the way they knew how to and learned nothing of a new perspective. For instance the counting one where most adults were so focused on the goal that they missed a large detail of a man in a guerilla suit walking by where as all the kids caught that simply because they were not focused on the goal at hand but on everything in front of them.
3. Are babies smarter than adults?
Here I am at a crossroads so I may not have a clear victor. Technically speaking adults are smarter due to their vast knowledge of things though still minuscule to that of the knowledge out there in the universe. Anyway I believe babies to be smarter in their own way due to the way they learn. They see the issue but see every side where adults just see the one side of the argument and then make a conclusion based on their knowledge so they gain nothing but children and babies gain so much more. That is my opinion on this topic.
1)The types of pyschology being used were developmental and instructionaland observational.
ReplyDelete2)I feel that the observational psychology was most valid because during the one experiment when they showed the different groups of kids how the toy with the lever and duck work, the first group wasn't that interested in playing with it since they knew how it worked; the second group of kids played with the toy and figured out how the levers work individually.
3)I wouldn't say that babies are that much smarter than adults, but i will say that they are more observative and more willing to explore than adults are.
1.The types of psychology being used are development, instructional and very much repetative from what i can remember.
ReplyDelete2.I think the experiment that worked the best would be the one when they asked the babies to light up the machine and put the brightiest block on the machine. Then when they had showed the babies how it really worked and they did the same thing i think that experiment worked the best.
3.I personaly think that babies are smarter that adults in a way there minds are like little sponges they absorb everything they see and learn they experiment on their own you cant just put a time schedule on learning they do it by themselves by watching touching ect....
Two types of psychology used here were child psychology and developmental psychology.
ReplyDeleteI think that both the block experiment and the lever one were helpful because they both show what ability a baby has to learn, grow, and develop. They like to see new things and figure out how those things work.
In technical terms, adults are smarter. They have much more knowledge and ability to apply their skills than an infant. Even so, the learning ability of a baby is amazing and since they're so young and almost everything is new to them, they learn more and keep having something to be interested in.
Type of Psychology: I believe it is experimental and observational.
ReplyDeleteExperiments: I believe that all of the tests together validated the hypothesis that proves that babies are not blank minded and non thinking creatures. All of them validate the complete opposite actually showing that they can do things that adults can do. But require little information to do so.
Are they smarter?: I do believe that babies are smarter than adults in some areas. They require very little information to do things that we need information to do. How can a baby no probability and before they know how to add and subtract. Or know what interests them about a toy after a few times. If they were so blank minded then would they not be most interested in the toy? There is more to a child then what meets the baby.
1. The types of psychology being used are developmental and behavioral. In the experiment, they were looking at the kind of undeveloped minds of the babies and they observed their behavior toward stimuli.
ReplyDelete2. The experiment I find most valid is the lever experiment. When the children found out how the toy worked, they were less interested and maybe that's because of their intelligence.
3. Technically, I don't think babies are smarter than adults all the way. They may know things analytically but that doesn't mean they have the common sense of an adult.
This type of psychology is called develomemtnal and experimental.
ReplyDeleteI think that all the experiments were valid but the one that was mist valid was the probability experiment.
I do think that babies are smarter than adults they know more and they learn things in such little time its like teaching a old dog a new trick. If you to teach me Spanish right now it would take me way longer than it would take a baby to learn because their brain is still waiting to learn new things
1.What types of psychology were being used?
ReplyDeleteI think that educational psychology, developmental psychology and cognitive psychology was used in the experiments. They were testing the children in how they learn and how their brains work.
2.Which of the experiments do you feel was most valid?
I think that the toy experiment and the block experiment were most valid only because the other experiment seemed very simple. The toy experiment let the children play with the toy long enough for them to figure out how it worked on their own. The block experiment let the children observe and identify the block with the highest probability to make the machine light up and they put that decision into action. The other experiment was determined by child's excitement at unprobable selections but it could have also been excitement for color.
3. Are babies smarter than adults?
Yes, in my opinion, babies are smarter than adults. Although babies and younger children learn basic skills, they learn them in such an elite way and they constantly work on that skill. My most prominent example is the encouragement for younger children to learn a language. Studies show that younger children adapt better to the learning process than adults do and that learning a language at an earlier age would help them become more comfortable with it.
I know one type of psychology being used is developmental because it is about children. Babies are much smarter than we think. They learn by experimenting instead of learning a set of skills in a classroom. Another type of psychology being used here is experimental psychology. This is so because some study how babies interact between each other and in an environment. Physiological psychology is also being used because this is how one can determine how the brain changes when cells develop and function.
ReplyDeleteI believe the experiment with the toy levers and duck was most valid because it demonstrated how children think. It said that the children started playing with the levers and thats how they figured out how to use the use. It also said that once the children learned how to play with the toy they were no longer interested in it anymore. However, some of the other children continued to play with the toy until they learned how to figure it out. This sort of reminded me of the human brain because these children needed to feel closure. Once they figured out how to play with the toy they felt accomplished and could not explore anymore.
Yes, I believe that in certain situations babies are smarter than adults. I think this because babies take their time exploring every little detail of something until they master it. Adults on the other hand try to find the shortcut or easy way to figure something out. I'm not saying that a baby could figure out a math equation or something like that, just that babies have more interest in learning. Babies learn by exploring and testing out a toy or a skill until they master it, unlike some adults.
1. types of phsychology ive seen are development, educational, and experimental phsychology.
ReplyDelete2. the experiment that i feel most valid is the probabilities with the blocks that light up the machine. they know the color that lights up the machine the most. so it seems as though they do think a lot. they don't make random decisions.
3. i wouldnt exactly say babies are smarter than adults but they are at the stage where they're taking in a lot all at once. so they're brain might be more... "active" at the time. an adult already learned all those things. generally speaking adults know more than babies. but if you want to be specific and technical about the baby's brain vs. an adult's brain then.. i would say the baby's brain is learning more than an adult's brain.

ReplyDeleteI think that the babies in this experiment did show that children are smarter than you think. I have been around a lot of kids and they all catch on to things quicker than adults most of the time. Like it is easier for babies to use a DVD player or a play station than it is for an adult. Its like they learn quicker and are more interested in new things than an adult would be. Adult some times don’t like to learn new things and wont even try but babies for the most part are always ready to learn. I think it is that as you get older your capacity for learning new things increases and it is harder for you to concentrate on new things but babies don’t know any thing so they have more space in their head for new information. They have more space and no problem concentrating on the task in front of them and they don’t give up as easily as adults either. I think in other to have a smart baby you don’t need to buy all those DVDs and fancy toys, all you need to do is talk to your kids and give them love and attention. People now days put to much pressure on their kids to succeed. But then again it is also not good to put no pressure on a child you need to put just enough pressure on a child.
• The type of psychology being used is this experiment is developmental because they are working with kids.
ReplyDelete• I think that the most valid experiment was the one with the babies playing with the pop up toys, because if a baby sees someone do something they don’t know how to do they will try to do it also. Plus if a baby already knows how to work something, they will move on to the next thing because its more interesting.
• No, babies are not smarter than humans they just like to experiment more because they haven’t seen most things that adults have seen in their entire life. I think that it seems like babies want to learn more when they are really young and since adults already learned many things babies did not, they don’t observe the little things.
The type of psychology that is being used in this article would be develop, instruction, and educational psychology. The experiments that I think were most valid is the one with the blocks because they could obviously see that the yellow block caused the machine to light up more than the blue block did.
ReplyDeleteThis shows that they weren't just picking blocks they knew that the yellow block was more likely to make the machine light up so they understand probabilty without really knowing they do. I don’t think that babies are smarter than humans but they are able to learn things quicker for some reason. They learn from observations and that’s something about babies that I always wondered about. As babies get older I think the way that think changes but they see things in ways that adults don't.
1.) What type of psychology is being used?
ReplyDeleteThere are many different types of psychology to determine which one is being used. Developmental Psychology focuses on human development from birth to death.
2.) Which of the experiments do you feel was most valid?
The ping pong expiriment seemed to be the most valid because it shows how babies pay attention. The expiriment was that they had white ball with some red. They took four red and one white ball out and the babies looked more surprised that there was less of each than before.
3.) Are babies smarter than adults?
To me i think babies have more of an adventurous mind because they learn as they grow. Adults feel as though they've learned a lot in the past so they can only learn so much. Babies have a lot of time before they're adults which means much learning.
What types of psychology were being used?
ReplyDeleteI think that the experimenter used a lot of mental psychology. Like he used a lot of processes that the children could learn and experiment from. I think it also may have made the small children develop their mind frames a little more that adults. Some experiments they also gave them jobs to do like the pop-up toy.
Which of the experiments do you feel was most valid?
I think the one experiment where they had the two groups and the toy was the most effective. Reason being is because I feel that it may have made the babies use their minds a little bit better. If you give a child a new toy they have the tendency to explore and figure out how it functions
Are babies smarter than adults?
In the thought process, I do think that babies would be smarter. They use their minds a little more because it is in the process of still being developed. For example on the lever test when they pulled it and thought of what would happen if they pulled both of them. Or when the doll test they wanted to figure how the doll works and when group one got done, they began to be tired with it. So therefore when it comes to the thought process, I do think that babies have more mental capabilities.
the kind of psychology they use is experimental psychology because they set up experiments and observe the responses of the babies. then they analyze them.
ReplyDeletethe experiment that was the most valid was the one with the ducks, because when you think about it adults when they are interested in something because they want to know how it works, andsoon as they find out how it works they aren't as interested because they already know. for example a quote...you always admire what you really don't understand. it is a trait that many poeple have, and they conlcuded that young children also carry this trait.
i don't think that babies are smarter than adults, and adults aren't smarter than babies. it's just that adults know more things, and those are the things that babies will know when they become adults. so i wouldn't say that they are smarter, because it makes babies sound 'dumber' and that's not true.
1. They are testing childs minds to see how well they can remember things and how well they pick up on patterns.
ReplyDelete2. The cause and effect experiment was most effetive to me, because each groupw was given a different view of the toy then one group just playing around just figured out the toy by themselves.
3.No, babies are slow and annoying they are just in the way!
1.) The two types of pyschology that were being used were developmental and instructional.
ReplyDelete2.) I feel that all the experiments were kinda stupid but if i would have to choose one, i would go with the second experiment. When the first group of babies found out what the levers did they weren't interested into it as much. But when the second group of babies had no idea as to what the levers would do ... they played with it more. They were more interested and wanted to figure it out.
3.) I feel that adults are much more smarter then babies. Babies have no idea what is going on, sure they did well with the three experiments but who cares. They dont have all the knowledge that adults have. Adults have years of knowledge and schools and life, all babies have are a couple months and mushed up brain!!
1. I'm not quite sure which types of psychology were used, but I know they had to deal with development, how well they followed instructions, how well they put things together to get a working outcome.
ReplyDelete2. I think the experiment that was more valid was the one that proved at play are exploring cause and effect. The babies were shown the toy with the different levers that when pressed an objects pop up.
3. I think that babies aren't as smart as adults. I think that they are more willing to learn more than adults. Like the article said, babies aren't trying to learn a specific skill but adults rely on what they all ready know in order to figure something out. So babies probably would learn more than adults, but they probably wouldn't learn the purpose of things, just how they work.
1. The two different types of psychology that was being used in the article was development and instructional.
ReplyDelete2. The experiment that I found were most valid was when the babies were playing with the levers and once the first group of babies figured out what they did they weren't that interested anymore. When the second group of babies figured out how they worked they were fascinated and more interested in the toy.
3. I don’t believe that babies are smarter than adults, but they are smarter than we mistake them to be. Babies as they get older they observe what adults do and learn from that. Most babies have a mind of their own that they can figure things out on their own, like what matches with what and what fits and what doesn't.
1.) 1.) What types of psychology were being used?
ReplyDeleteThe types of psychology that were being used were experimental and eduactional psychology. They did experiments to demonstrate that babies are smarter than adults and they also focused on how babies learn and interact with things.
2.) Which of the experiment do you feel was most valid?
I think the experiment with the light up blocks is the most valid because it helped the babies learn about probability and the objects that surround them.
3.) Are babies smarter than adults?
Babies are smarter than adults in their own ways. They can learn things faster by picking up details. Babies also learn more things in a smaller period of time, making their brains more active than adults. Babies see new things everyday, making them learn more about their surroundings.
the types of psychology used where Developmental psychology, and infant psychology. the Experiment that is most valid is the one where they gave the kids the toy and the different groups payed with it in a different way. i don't think that children are smarter than adults i just think that we underestimate how smart they actually are.
ReplyDeleteDevelopmental and instructional psychology was used. They were comparing infants to adults to see who proved to be smarter. Developmental is the study of the way things grow and develop. Instructional is the way people respond to instructions and how well they follow out the tasks asked of them.
ReplyDeleteThe experiment with the toys was the most valid to me because the babies acted as adults and showed similar actions but that still does not prove to me that their smarter.
Adults are smarter because they know the fundamentals, babies are smart in their own way and some may even be smarter then others but they are not smarter then adults.
I think they used the psycology of develoment for the babies and young children. I also think that they used the psycology of subsidairy.
ReplyDeleteI think the experiment in Berkeley, Tamar Kushnir worked the best. Because they did the block thing in front of the children so the children could see. And the children use their memerory to pick the same blocks to light up the machine.
I think babies are not smarter than adults. Adults have a more develope brain. Babies are just getting use to learnin. So I dont think babies are smarter than adults.
